Personal Life

Kena is an Awadhi at heart with her childhood, teenage and early work life spent shuttling between the rich cultural cities of Allahabad and Lucknow.
Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, thus, dwells in her soul.

She not just topped the University of Allahabad (called, Oxford of the East) while pursuing the Masters in Psychology and HRDM but also broke the merit record of preceding five years having scored the highest of all times. While still studying for the degree, she cracked the UGC-NET examination and was all set to become an academician like her parents when she simultaneously got through three national competitive exams. She decided to join the prestigious NTPC Limited, India’s largest energy conglomerate which is credited with lighting up every third bulb in the country and contributing to the building of the nation. She realized that while less than 1% of Indians make it to such exams, hardly 7% out of them are women. The road ahead wasn’t meant to be rosy, especially given that she was also a writer and artist at heart.

In NTPC, she was posted at difficult locations of thermal power project at Unchahar and greenfield post at Meja for a decade before serving stints at Lucknow HQ and New Delhi. Thereafter, she contributed as a Team Lead at NTPC’s L&D wing specialising in leadership, corporate storytelling, communications, organisational behaviour and gender psychology. She currently heads the prestigious and critical Talent Acquisition wing of NTPC alongside pursuing her interest areas of writing and storytelling.

Certified by Harvard Manage Mentor, the Harvard Business School, her illustrious Corporate journey includes MDP in HR from IIM Lucknow, one-year specialization in HR Competency Framework from XLRI Jamshedpur and holds trainer’s certification in Nero Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH).

Her husband, Priyank Srivastava, is a theatre artist and a sales professional, while her two daughters, Kaeya and Katya, attend school/college. They make a family of ardent creative artists and avid storytellers finding solace in everyday musings.
