Kena’s journey as a storyteller and poet began in the culturally rich city of Allahabad, where her passion for theatre ignited in childhood.

In 2015, Kena’s storytelling journey took a transformative turn in Lucknow, where she engaged in community storytelling for diverse audiences, including adults, senior citizens, children, and underrepresented groups. Her narratives soon caught the attention of the country’s leading storytelling platform, Tape A Tale, leading to her first digital recording for social media.

From a humble studio performance for a niche audience, Kena’s storytelling has travelled far and wide, weaving together communities across India.

She is among the first few spoken word artists in the country who effortlessly writes and performs in English, Hindi, and Urdu—an ability honed during her formative years in Allahabad. Her spoken word piece, “Wo Chaar Log,” garnered immense acclaim and was featured in a TED talk in 2022.

Kena’s poignant story, “Kya Tum Khush Ho?”—a journey of self-discovery and life lessons—resonated with audiences in Delhi and has since reached international platforms, spreading a message of hope.

Her debut solo show, “Izhar-e-Ishq,” took center stage at the prestigious Jashn-e-Rekhta festival in 2022, attracting over 3,000 attendees. In 2023, she showcased a musical rendition of the show at the Repertwahr Theatre Festival.

Driven by her love for poetry, Kena co-founded Poetry Circle – Noida, a vibrant community for poetry enthusiasts, and serves as the co-curator of Asia’s first Feminist Poetry Festival in collaboration with She The People.

Kena has performed for esteemed storytelling and poetry platforms including Rekhta, Tape A Tale, Spill Poetry, Kommune, She The People, All India Radio, Ishq FM, Zee TV, among others. Her work has collectively amassed over 25 million views across various platforms.
